Cricket at Marston Leisure Park

Marston Moreteyne and the Sheltons have had a very active cricket club from the early 1900s!

In 1990, it folded and the ground was not used for cricket for several years. This fact was noticed by Ampthill Town Cricket Club (ATCC) who were looking for a second ground to give their 3rd and 4th teams a home base, permission was granted and ATCC started playing here in 2005.

The agreement was that ATCC would bring the cricket square up to a good standard for cricket at their own expense and maintain the cricket square. Cricket could be played from 1st May until 31st August each year and the Marston Shelton Rovers FC would use it the rest of the year. This arrangement allows for some fluidity by agreement between the clubs. Marston Moreteyne cricket square is now one of the best in the county. Over that time, an improved water supply has been provided to the square and a new changing room block with new storage rooms have been provided.

ATCC is a thriving cricket club with a very active youth section as well as a women's section with their 1st and 2nd teams based at Ampthill and the women's and youth sections playing at both Ampthill and Marston Moreteyne.

Spectators are always welcome to sit (bring your own chair) and enjoy the sound of leather on willow on a warm summers afternoon and if anyone wants to get involved in the beautiful summer game, they just need to speak to any player or visit the Club's website or social media sites.
